Sustainable Development
A philosophy of economic development that advocates in enhancing living standards without damaging the earth's ecosystems or producing environmental issues such as climate change, water scarcity, or species extinction. Some claim that sustainable development requires the wealthy to lower their level of living in order to share more with the poor; others disagree. Development that aims to achieve long-term economic progress while also ensuring future generations' ability to do so by not exceeding nature's regenerative capacity. To put it another way, it is attempting to protect the environment.
