Designed by Akili, Evo is a gamified technique that detects Alzheimer's disease. To diagnose Alzheimer's disease usually, an expensive PET scan is required to detect amyloid plaques in the brain. Through Evo, diagnosing becomes more cost-effective. The game asks the player to tilt his or her iPad or iPhone to steer an alien or object that appears down a river. The players will have to overcome the distractions that appear in the form of a fish or a bird by tapping on the screen. The performance data is then measured against the predetermined standards.
