The scientific study of microorganisms that inhibit or create food is known as food microbiology. Microorganisms that contaminate food; pathogens that can cause disease; microbes used to produce fermented foods such as cheese, yoghurt, bread, beer, and wine; and microbes with other useful roles, such as probiotic production, are all included.
