In this era, life without computers is unimaginable. In simple terms, a computer is a machine that can be programmed to carry out sequences of arithmetic or logical operations automatically. The term ‘Computer’ is derived from the latin word “computare” which means to calculate. It is defined as a programmable electronic device that accepts raw data as input and processes it with a set of instructions to produce the result as output. It can process both numerical as well as non-numerical calculations. It responds to a specific set of instructions in a well-defined manner and it execute pre-recorded list of instructions called program. The CPU or the microprocessor is the heart of the computer. There are various characteristics of computers that made them so powerful and universally valuable are speed, accuracy, diligence, versatility and storage capacity.
