The Aranmula Uthrittathi Vallamkali, or Aranmula Boat Race, is one of Kerala's most ancient and revered boat races. It is well known for its grandeur and unique history, and is held on the day of the Uthrittathi asterism in the Malayalam month of Chingam. it is inspired by the Sree Parthasarathy Temple, which is located on the banks of the Pambar River. This festival is linked to the yearly temple festival held during the last two days of Onam. The festival, which attracts a large number of tourists, is organised not only to commemorate the installation anniversary of the Sri Krishna idol, the chief deity of the Aranmula Parthasarathy temple. These boats were built by professional boat builders and are owned by proud villagers who take good care of them. The boats are decorated with silk and gold umbrellas during the event. The boats rowed by hundreds of men in rhythmic movements are simply breathtaking. Prayers are offered to the Lord in the morning, and the race begins in the afternoon.
ആറന്മുള വള്ളംകളി: കേരളത്തിലെ അതിപുരാതന വള്ളംകളിയാണ് ആറന്മുള ഉത്രട്ടാതി വള്ളംകളി. കേരളത്തിലെ പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ പമ്പാ നദിയിലാണ് ആറന്മുള വള്ളംകളി നടക്കുന്നത്. 'ആറന്മുളയപ്പനു' സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുന്ന വള്ളംകളിയില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്ന വള്ളങ്ങളെ 'പള്ളിയോടങ്ങള്‍' എന്നാണു വിളിക്കുന്നത്. ആറന്മുള പാര്‍ഥസാരഥിക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠാദിനത്തില്‍, പാര്‍ഥന്റെ ജന്മനക്ഷത്രനാളായ ചിങ്ങത്തിലെ ഉത്രട്ടാതി നാളാണ് ഈ ജലോത്സവം നടക്കുന്നത്. ആറന്മുള വള്ളംകളി ലോകപ്രസിദ്ധമായിട്ടുള്ളതാണ്‌. വള്ളംകളിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് പല ഐതികങ്ങളും ചരിത്ര താളുകളിലുണ്ട്.
