It is a little known fact that the largest tribal festival in India is held in the state of Telangana. This is the Sammakka Saarakka Festival held in the forests of Medaram. In fact, this is the second largest religious festival in India, coming in only after the Kumbh Mela. It is estimated that close to 10 crore people attend this festival, which is considered to have originated some 700 years ago. What’s special about this festival that it attracts such crowds? భారత దేశంలోని అతిపెద్ద గిరిజన ఉత్సవం తెలంగాణా రాష్ట్రంలోనే జరుగుతుందని చాలా మందికి తెలియదు. భారత దేశంలో కుంభమేళా తరువాత అత్యధికులు హాజరయ్యే పండుగ ఇదే. ఈ ఉత్సవమే మేడారంలో జరిగే సమ్మక్క సారక్క జాతర. ఈ జాతర తెలంగాణా రాష్ట్ర పండుగగా గుర్తింపు పొందింది. ఈ జాతరకు దాదాపు ఏడు వందల ఏళ్ల చరిత్ర ఉంది. వివిధ రాష్ట్రాల నుంచి సుమారు 10 కోట్ల మందికి పైగా హాజరు అవుతారని అంచనా. అంతమంది రావడానికి ఈ జాతరకు కొన్ని ప్రత్యేకతలు ఉన్నాయి. అవి ఏమిటో, ఈ జాతరను ఏ తెగ వారు జరుపుకుంటారో, జరుపుకునే పద్ధతి ఏమిటో, మొదలైన విశేషాలు ఈ ప్రదర్శన ద్వారా తెలియజేయడం జరిగింది.
