Amongst the two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are three ancient wooden toy-making factories. One of these is the Kondapalli toy-making industry, situated in the village of Kondapalli, close to the current Vijayawada city. Made of very light and fragile wood, with intricate features and multi-coloured texturing, these toys depict gods, goddesses, village scenes like temples, wells, artisans, merchants, soldiers and so on.
