Kottayam State assembly constituency is one of the 140 state legislative assembly constituencies at the state of Kerala in southern India. It is also one of the 7 state legislative assembly constituencies included in the Kottayam Lok Sabha constituency. As of the 2016 assembly elections, the current MLA is Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan of INC. Kottayam Niyama Sabha constituency is composed of the following local self-governed segments: Kottayam, Panachikkad, and Vijyapuram. Kottayam Lok Sabha constituency is composed of the following assembly segments: Pirvam, Pala, Kaduthuruthy, Vaikkom, Ettumanoor, Kottayam, and Puthupally. Elected MP Thomas Chazhikadan switched to the LDF alliance as he sided with Jose K Mani after the Split in Kerala Congress in 2020. In 2021, Thiruvanjoor Radhakrishnan of the Indian National Congress won the seat by defeating K Anilkumar from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) with a margin of 18743 votes.
