The two Godavari Districts of Andhra Pradesh are amongst the most fertile regions of the country. The district that lies to the west of the river is the West Godavari District and the one that lies to the east is the East Godavari District. This presentation is a brief overview of the West Godavari District, whose headquarters lie in the town of Eluru. Densely populated, the district also offers beautiful scenic views to the tourist. It is home to many famous temples such as the Mavullamma Temple at Bhimavaram, the Dwaraka Tirumala Temple among others. The Kolleru Lake offers a home to many migratory birds during the winter months, the various sweets and savouries that the district is famous for, the different crops grown here, other popular monuments and some handicrafts from the region are also mentioned in here.
