Vijayanagaram, or rather Vizianagaram as it is spelt, is a beautiful district in the northeastern parts of Andhra Pradesh. With a vast coastline and an ancient history, this district has a lot to boast of in terms of historic events like the Bobilli War that took place there, dynasties like the Gajapathi Kings that ruled it, and tourist attractions like the Vizianagarm Palace and the Bobilli Fort, the Clock Tower, the Udkhana and a mythology park called the Ramanarayanam. The district is also home to many temples and festivals like the Pydithallamma Sirimanothsavam. This is a land that gave birth to or became home to many prominent people like Gurjada Apparao Garu.
