Uttamadhanapuram Venkatasubbaiyer Swaminatha Iyer (U.V.Swaminatha Iyer) was a Tamil scholar and researcher who was instrumental in bringing many long-forgotten works of classical Tamil literature to light. He is popularly known as ‘Tamil Thatha’. Born in Thiruvarur district from South India, he is known for recovering literary works from palm leaf manuscripts and transformed them to books for the future. He did this service professionally, collecting manusripts knocking every door under is command. He left no stone unturned in his thirst to revive Tamil literature. He won many titles: Dakshinathya Kalanidhi, Mahamahopathiyaya ("Greatest of great teachers”). He was honoured by great men and women of those times, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Rajaji, Subramania Bharati (Bharathiyar). உத்தமதானபுரம் வெங்கடசுப்பையர் சுவாமிநாத ஐயர் (உ. வே. சுவாமிநாத ஐயர்) ஒரு தமிழ் அறிஞர் மற்றும் ஆராய்ச்சியாளர் ஆவார், அவர் நீண்டகாலமாக மறந்துபோன பல பாரம்பரிய தமிழ் இலக்கியங்களை வெளிச்சத்திற்குக் கொண்டு வருவதில் முக்கிய பங்கு வகித்தார். அவர் ‘தமிழ்த் தாத்தா’ என்று பிரபலமாக அறியப்படுகிறார். தென்னிந்தியாவிலிருந்து திருவாரூர் மாவட்டத்தில் பிறந்த அவர், பனை ஓலை பிரதிகளிலிருந்து இலக்கியப் படைப்புகளை மீட்டு எதிர்காலத்திற்காகப் புத்தகங்களாக மாற்றியவர். தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தை உயிர்ப்பிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற தாகத்தில் அவர் எந்தக் குறையையும் விடவில்லை. அவர் பல பட்டங்களை வென்றார்: தக்ஷிண கலாநிதி, மகாமகோபாத்தியாய ("சிறந்த ஆசிரியர்"). வேல்ஸ் இளவரசர் மற்றும் இளவரசி, ரவீந்திரநாத் தாகூர், மகாத்மா காந்தி, ராஜாஜி, சுப்பிரமணிய பாரதி (பாரதியார்) உட்பட அந்த காலத்தின் சிறந்த தலைவர்கள் அவரை கௌரவித்தனர். அவரது வாழ்க்கை மற்றும் பங்களிப்புகளைக் காண்போம்.
