Uthradam is children's Onam. That evening everyone wears the new dress. The resource-rich feast also begins with the Uthradam. Sadya will be served to all. First salt, then roasted berry, jaggery pickle, lemongrass lemon, tamarind, olan, kalan, erisseri, avial, waxy or pickled, grated fried, fruit, pappadam etc so much from one end of the leaf to the other end. Then rice, sambar etc. By then, the stew will start serving. The hot stew made with rice, jaggery and coconut milk has a pleasant aroma when served on banana leaves. In it, banana and pappadam are mixed and eaten. The culture that had been disappearing for a long time was engraved in lines and melodies. In those lines, Onam, spring, Kerala life, love, loss, anticipation, rurality, myths, history, epics and nostalgia filled the songs. Prominent lyricists and composers entertained the audience with cultural performances from all over Kerala.
ഉത്രാടം കുട്ടികളുടെ ഓണമാണ്. അന്ന് വൈകുന്നേരം എല്ലാവരും പുതിയ വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കുന്നു. ഉത്രാടത്തോടെയാണ് വിഭവ സമൃദ്ധമായ സദ്യയും ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. എല്ലാവർക്കും സദ്യ വിളമ്പും. ആദ്യം ഉപ്പ്, പിന്നെ വറുത്ത കായ, ശർക്കര അച്ചാർ, ചെറുനാരങ്ങ, പുളി, ഓലൻ, കാളൻ, എരിശ്ശേരി, അവിയൽ, മെഴുക് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അച്ചാർ, വറ്റൽ വറുത്തത്, പഴം, പപ്പടം മുതലായവ ഇലയുടെ ഒരറ്റം മുതൽ മറ്റേ അറ്റം വരെ. പിന്നെ ചോറും സാമ്പാറും. അപ്പോഴേക്കും പായസം വിളമ്പാൻ തുടങ്ങും. ചോറും ശർക്കരയും തേങ്ങാപ്പാലും ചേർത്തുണ്ടാക്കുന്ന ചൂടുള്ള പായസത്തിന് വാഴയിലയിൽ വിളമ്പുമ്പോൾ നല്ല സുഗന്ധമുണ്ട്. അതിൽ പഴവും പപ്പടവും കൂട്ടി കഴിക്കും. കാലങ്ങളായി അപ്രത്യക്ഷമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന സംസ്കാരം വരികളിലും ഈണങ്ങളിലും കൊത്തിവച്ചിരുന്നു. ആ വരികളിൽ ഓണവും വസന്തവും കേരളീയ ജീവിതവും പ്രണയവും നഷ്ടവും കാത്തിരിപ്പും ഗ്രാമീണതയും പുരാണങ്ങളും ചരിത്രവും ഇതിഹാസവും ഗൃഹാതുരത്വവും നിറഞ്ഞുനിന്നു. പ്രമുഖ ഗാനരചയിതാക്കളും സംഗീതസംവിധായകരും കേരളത്തിലെമ്പാടുമുള്ള സാംസ്‌കാരിക പരിപാടികൾ അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു.
