National economy is considered to be one of the toughest sections in UPSC IAS / IPS preliminary examination. Most number of questions were expected from this particular topic of the exam. It can also include facts or questions from various categories like politics, geography, current affairs, economy, science etc. The topics of general studies comprises: Economic and Social Development, Indian polity and Governance, General Science, Indian and World Geography, General issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change, Current events of national and international importance, History of India and Indian national movement. In the year 2015 there were almost 25-30 questions for Preliminary examination. Topics discussed under this section might also include environmental conservation, global climate change, international bodies and treaties, endangered and vulnerable flora and fauna and environmental pollution.
