Training constitutes a basic concept in human resource development. It is concerned with developing a particular skill to a desired standard by instruction and practice. Training is a highly useful tool that can bring an employee into a position where they can do their job correctly, effectively, and conscientiously. Training is the act of increasing the knowledge and skill of an employee for doing a particular job. Training and Development refers to a planned effort by an organization to facilitate learning of job-related behaviour on the part of its employees. The term behaviour is used in the broad sense to include any knowledge or skill acquired by the employee through practice. It is important to note that training focuses on improving the skill level of an employee as related to their current job, while development has a more long-term focus intended to help an employee prepare for future jobs. Training needs analysis, as on which part the training should be focused must be understood.
