How does Tobacco smoking affect Human health? Tobacco was first discovered by the native people of Mesoamerica and South America and later introduced to Europe and the rest of the world? Tobacco is a plant that can be smoked in cigarettes, pipes, or cigars. It's the same plant that's in smokeless tobacco, known as dip, chew, snuff, spit, or chewing tobacco. Cigarettes, cigars, and pipe tobacco are made from dried tobacco leaves. Other substances are added for flavor and to make smoking more pleasant. The smoke from these products is a complex mixture of chemicals produced by burning tobacco and its additives. Tobacco leaves are applied to cuts as an antiseptic and to stop bleeding. Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Smoking also increases the risk of getting affected by tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis.
