This is a catchphrase we've heard many times: smoking is bad for your health. Tobacco is made from the cured leaves of the Nicotiana genus of the Solanaceae plant family. Dried tobacco leaves are most commonly found in cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and shishas. They are also available in snuff, chewing tobacco, dipping tobacco, and snus form. Tobacco contains nicotine, a highly addictive stimulant alkaloid, as well as other harmful alkaloids. Tobacco use increases the risk of many deadly diseases, including heart, liver, and lung disease, as well as many cancers. To learn more, view the Tobacco presentation.
