"A tissue is a group of cells combined together to perform a specific function. Human body comprises of mainly epithelial, connective, muscular and nervous tissues, each designed in a particular way and assigned with a function. In the field of biotechnology, tissue engineering is an emerging and challenging field, aims at recreating tissues or healthy organs to replace a diseased or missing body part. This is done by using one's own tissues and regeneration of an organ. 3D bioprinting is applied to regenerative medicine to address the need of tissues for organ transplantation. This technique is already being used in transplanting multilayered skin, bone, vascular grafts, tracheal splints, heart tissues and cartilaginous structures. Advancements in stem cell technology paved developments in tissue engineering, since cells are the building blocks and they are used for creating or replacing a tissue. Let's understand tissues in detail. Have a look into the powerpoint presentation."
