Divakarla Tirupati Sastry and Chellappilla Venkata Sastry are together known as the Tirupati Venkata Kavulu. They were known for their ‘Avadhaanaalu’ which they jointly performed. Encouraged by their guru Sri Charla Brahmaya Sastry, they attempted their first Ashtaavadhaanam in Kakinada. Thereafter, in 1890, they performed a Sataavadhaanam. From then on, they went on to conduct several hundreds of avadhaanams in villages, towns and princely courts. This presentation brings to you many interesting details about these two poets, the way they came to be avadhaanaalu and also how they came to work as a team.
దివాకర్ల తిరుపతిశాస్త్రి మరియు చెళ్లపిళ్ల వేంకటశాస్త్రి — వీరివువురు తిరుపతి వెంకట కవులు అని జంట కవులుగా తెలుగు సాహిత్యంలో ప్రసిద్ధులయ్యారు. వీరు అవధానలు. వందలకొద్దీ అవధానాలు చేశారు. మొట్టమొదటి సారిగా వీరి గురువు చర్ల బ్రహ్మయ్యాశాస్త్రి ప్రోత్సాహంతో కాకినాడలో జంటగా అష్టావధానాన్ని, ఆ తర్వాత 1890 అక్టోబరులో ఒక శతావధానాన్ని చేశారు. కాకినాడ అవధానాల తర్వాత వీరిరువురూ పల్లెల్లో, పట్టణాలలో, రాజాస్థానా లలో వందలకొద్దీ అవధానాలు చేశారు. అయితే వీరు ఎలా కలిశారు, ఎలా అవధానాలు మొదలుపెట్టారు అన్నది చాలా ఆసక్తికరమైన సంఘటన. ఈ ప్రదర్శనలో వీరిరువురి జీవితం గురించి, వీరు కలిసి సంఘటన గురించి మరియు వీరి కవితలా గురించి ఎన్నో విశేషాలు సమకూర్చడం జరిగింది
