Close to the temple town of Tirupathi is a prominent Vinayaka temple in the town of Kanipakam. The temple itself was built around 1000 years ago, but according to local legend, much prior to that, the villagers had found a Vinayaka statue in a well and since then have been offering prayers to the lord at this spot.
