Close to Telangana’s capital city of Hyderabad are the Anantagiri Hills. Nestled among thick forests, these hills sport many a beautiful waterfall. The hills are also the birthplace of the Musi River which flows through the Hyderabad City and eventually finds its course to join the Krishna River. Built on one of these hills is the famous Anantagiri Temple. Legend has it that this temple was built in the Dwapara Yuga by none other than Markandeya Maharshi. Another legend describes how a Rajarishi by the name of Muchikunda was granted a boon by the gods and transformed into Muchikunda River, which we know today as Musi.
