Amongst the traditional musical instruments from the subcontinent, and especially from the southern parts of the subcontinent, perhaps the Veena is the most famous. This presentation is an attempt to bring to light the history of the veena, its importance in our culture, its evolution leading to the birth of several forms of the musical instrument. The presentation also gives a detailed account of how this instrument is made from the bark of trees and actual fruits themselves like the pumpkin and jackfruit. The second half of the presentation particularly talks about the birth of the Bobbilli Veena, which today occupies a prime position among all handicrafts from the Telugu states.
