The Daodejing - An Overview

Presentations | English

Following ruinous events, it's natural for individuals to say that the planet has changed. Thus it's been following the events of September eleventh. And yet, once reading the Daodejing, one understands that such claims are merely one way in which individuals answer bad luck. In keeping with Daoist philosophy, such claims run counter to the truth of Dao, in which the balance of events, each lightweight and dark, continues in ways which are on the far side of our perception. In one of the world’s oldest scriptures, the Daodejing, the author writes, “Counsel everybody, however particularly those in power, to be humble, frugal, and modest,” and to acknowledge that “The means is hidden and while not name.” One influenced by Daoist thought will merely regard historical events within the time in which the ruinous takes its place beside the mundane. Ivanhoe’s translation of the Daodejing is obvious and accessible and provides United States with a unaltered scripture to contemplate. “Look for it and it can't be seen; / Listen for it and it can't be heard; / however use it and it'll never dry".
