Formal education for women was quite rare in the ancient days. And women writers were even rarer. The Telugu language, however, boasts of having great women writers from as early as the 14th century. This multi-part series offers a brief biographical sketch of the various ancient women writers and some of the prominent ones from the current times. The third part of this series covers the writers Chavali Bangaramma, P Sarala Devi, Bala Papamba, Burra Kamala Devi, Malladi Vasundhara, Sarada Asokvardhan, Tenneti Hemalatha, J Bhagyalakshmi, Umarji Anuradha, Manasa Yendluri, Gita Ramaswamy and BV Subamma. Information on earlier writers, right from the 14th century have been given in the earlier two parts.
