Children who watch a lot of violent television become more aggressive. A single violent programme can sometimes increase aggression. Children who watch shows in which violence is frequently repeated or unpunished are more likely to imitate what they see. Children who have emotional, behavioural, learning, or impulse control issues may be more easily influenced by violent television. The impact of TV violence on a child's behaviour can be seen immediately or years later. Even if their home environment is free of violence, young people can be affected. Thousands of studies have been conducted over the last 30 years to investigate the effects of TV violence on children. View this PPT for more information.
