"The Swachh Bharath Mission or campaign was implemented by the government of India on 2nd October, 2014 with the primary aim of promoting and achieving universal sanitation and to bring an overall focus on the aspect of sanitation and health across the country. The mission and it's main ideology was accepted and appreciated widely as people from all over the country happily joined in. The campaign was started with the Hon'ble Prim Minister Sri Narendra Modi's speech after which he flagged off a marathon and surprised everyone by running in it for a while. The Swachh Bharath Abhyan was charted for a span of five whole years by when the country aimed to put a stop to unhealthy habits such as open and public defecation and urination, lack of good sanitation etcetera."
