"Nature worship is any of a variety of religious, spiritual and devotional practices that focus on the worship of the nature spirits considered to be behind the natural phenomena visible throughout nature. Nature worship is often considered the primitive source of modern religious beliefs. This presentation talks about the awareness and intellect of Early Tamils, who understood the importance of Nature, and worshipped Nature. Their customs and traditions, be it an ordinary day or a festival, are based on Nature and reflects thanksgiving to Nature. Nature worship includes thanksgiving to the five elements or Panchabutas – Agni, Fire, Water, Land and Sky. Festivals are carved to worship Nature. Aadi Perukku, Karthigai Deepam are festivals with such significance."
