Can you imagine a world where people are unable to communicate? The process of making precise sounds that transmit meaning to the listener is known as speech. When most people think of speech and language, they typically think of talking. The words we -use to express our thoughts and ideas are referred to as language. Any condition that affects a person's capacity to produce sounds that form words is referred to as a speech disorder. Speech disorders impede people form generating correct speech sounds. It can affect people of any age. The types of speech disorders are Stuttering, apraxia, and dysarthria. The causes includes autism, brain damage due to stroke, muscle weakness etc. A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is a doctor who specializes in speech and language impairments. A speech-language pathologist (SLP) will assess a person for clusters of symptoms that suggest a specific type of speech problem. SLPs must rule out other speech and language impairments as well as medical diseases in order to provide an appropriate diagnosis. A speech-language pathologist will look over a person's medical and family history. They'll also look at how a person moves their lips, jaw, and tongue, as well as their mouth and throat muscles.
