Employees are considered to be the biggest asset of any organisation. The responsibility of recruiting these assets vests with the human resource department. Recruiting is one of the primary functions of an HR department. It refers to the overall process of identifying, attracting, screening, shortlisting and interviewing candidates for jobs within an organization. There are different strategies that an HR deploys in recruiting. There are mainly two sources of recruitment; they are internal and external sources. When a vacancy arises in the organisation, it may be given to an employee who is already on the pay-roll. Internal sources include promotion, transfer and in certain cases demotion. In many of the cases the organisation has to depend on external sources of recruitment, which include advertisement, employment exchanges, educational institutions, labour contractors and so on. The presentation gives in-depth understanding on the topic.
