New Kings and Kingdoms' is a chapter in the class 7 NCERT social science textbook ‘Our Pasts - II’. Monarchy in ancient India was a sovereignty over a territory by a King who functioned as its protector. His role involved both secular and religious powers. Great kings and dynasties brought great changes, development and growth to their kingdoms. Some of them spread their empires to neighboring countries or established trade with them.
