Have you ever heard about Smart antennas? An antenna is a metallic structure that captures and/or transmits radio electromagnetic waves. An antenna is mainly used as a metallic device for radiating or receiving radio waves which are used for transmitting signals, transmitting antenna is used to transmit information and for receiving signals, receiving antenna is used at the receiver end to receive signals. Smart antennas also known as adaptive antennas, use an array of antennas in combination with smart signal processing algorithms that track the location of a mobile client device using techniques such as the direction of arrival of a signal. There are two types of smart antennas: Switched beam systems and adaptive array systems. The main benefit of smart antenna systems is their ability to simultaneously increase the useful receiving signal and lower the interference level, increasing the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) in more densely populated areas. Smart antennas are more directive and costly.
