Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants

Presentations | English

Where does Sexual reproduction take place in Flowering plants? The primary purpose of the flower is reproduction. In nature, it is the key point for a new generation to come. Give protection to reproductive organs like stamen and stigma. Attract pollinators with their bright colors. Help the plant to bear fruits and seeds after reproduction. The female part is the pistil. The pistil usually is located in the center of the flower and is made up of three parts: the stigma, style, and ovary. The stigma is the sticky knob at the top of the pistil. It is attached to the long, tube-like structure called the style. Male Reproductive Organ is the stamen that consists of an anther (which produces pollen, the male reproductive cell) and a filament. Sexual reproduction in flowering plants involves the production of male and female gametes, the transfer of the male gametes to the female ovules in a process called pollination. After pollination occurs, fertilization happens and the ovules grow into seeds within a fruit.
