Resistors are electrical components in an electric circuit used to slow down current in the circuit and in turn lose energy in the form of heat or thermal energy. Do you see something that rings any bells? Home appliances such as electric heaters, electric ovens and toasters all use resistors to turn current into heat. The filament of an incandescent light bulb, oddly enough, emits light by heating itself up when electricity passes through it. Resistors have more serious applications in electrical devices like computers and cell phones which are to diminish unwanted electrical signals. Resistors are crucial when it comes to the proper functioning of electronics, even though energy loss occurs due to the resistance. Resistors make sure that other components are provided with optimum voltage or electric current. A zigzag line is used to imply resistors in a diagrammatical representation of a circuit. And the resistance can be measured in its unit ohms. To know more about resistors and its functions, keep reading. Please see the presentation for details.
