Relational Database Management System

Presentations | English

A relational database management system (RDBMS or simply RDB) is a form of database that stores data in tables and may be linked to other databases. A relational database, as opposed to a flat file or hierarchical database, is the most common type of database used by organisations these days. The bulk of today's IT systems and applications use a relational database management system. Relational databases are powerful enough to handle large amounts of data and complicated queries. Multiple tables are common in today's databases. Data is frequently maintained in many tables, sometimes known as'relations.' These tables are organised into rows and columns. A database can contain millions of rows. Columns are made up of only one type of data, such as a name or a price. This model divides data into one or more tables with columns and rows, each with its own unique key. Rows are sometimes known as tuples or records. Attributes are another name for columns. Each table/relation represents one "entity type" in general. The columns indicate values associated to that instance and the rows represent instances of that sort of object.
