What is project appraisal and why is it done? Why must projects be appraised? What do we learn from project appraisals? Projects must be appraised because if a project does not exhibit a greater benefit to society than cost, then the project should be re-modelled or not invested in. Under economic analysis, the project aspects highlighted include requirements for raw material, level of capacity utilization, anticipated sales, anticipated expenses and the probable profits. It will have to be calculated how much sales would be necessary to earn the targeted profit. Project appraisal is an important activity to evaluate the key factor of the project to check the viability of a project proposal.
