Why do we need to learn the C language for programming? A programming language is a vocabulary and set of grammatical rules for instructing a computer or computing device to perform specific tasks. The term programming language usually refers to high-level languages, such as BASIC, C, C++, COBOL, Java, FORTRAN, Ada, and Pascal. C is a general-purpose programming language and can efficiently work on enterprise applications, games, graphics, and applications requiring calculations, etc.‘C’ is a structured programming language in which the program is divided into various modules. Each module can be written separately and together it forms a single ‘C’ program. This structure makes it easy for testing, maintaining, and debugging processes.‘C’ contains 32 keywords, various data types, and a set of powerful built-in functions that make programming very efficient. Another feature of ‘C’ programming is that it can extend itself. C is highly portable and is used for scripting system applications which form a major part of Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems.
