What are the major Pollution Causes, Effects, and Remedies? Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment. Pollutants can be natural, such as volcanic ash. They can also be created by human activity, such as trash or runoff produced by factories. Pollutants damage the quality of air, water, and land. Major reasons for pollution can be deforestation; emission of harmful gases by industries, burning of fossil fuel and plastic; improper sewage treatment; disposal of industrial, residential, and medical waste onto water bodies, accumulation of nonbiodegradable and e-waste, natural calamities, etc. We can reduce pollution by afforestation, reducing the use of fossil fuels, switching on to degradable products, following the reuse, recycle and reduce method, maintaining proper sewage management, monitoring the wastes that are flooded into the environment, reducing the emission of harmful gases, and avoiding manmade destruction, utilize public transportation, use of eco-friendly products, conserving the natural resources, etc.
