Plastic is a non-biodegradable synthetic material which is toxic. Widely dumped plastic is consumed as food materials by animals, such as cows. This consumption of the disposed of plastic leads to various health problems. Plastic contains toxins; when it is burning, the fumes that are released are harmful, if inhaled. Plastic is durable and provides protection from contaminants and the elements. It reduces food waste by preserving food and increasing its shelf life. It protects food against pests, microbes and humidity. Without this protection, food is more likely to get damaged and become unusable. Plastics are used to make bicycle helmets, child safety seats and airbags in automobiles. They’re in the cell phones, televisions, computers and other electronic equipment that makes modern life possible. They’re in the roofs, walls, flooring and insulation that make homes and buildings energy efficient.
