"Plastics are a huge array of synthetic or semi-synthetic materials that are widely used in and around the world. They are a man-made item and is therefore not a natural substance. Invented by Alexander Parks in 1862, they are available in many different types, made out of different polymers and chemicals, each for specific uses. Types of plastics such as polythene, PVC, nylon are all widely available and knowingly or unknowingly used by people all over the world. They are mostly made out of chemicals found in coal, oil, wood and natural gas and they come in a number of different colours, shapes and sizes.
