Excited to know some facts about Phylum Arthropoda? Let’s get into that, Arthropods are invertebrate animals having an exoskeleton, a segmented body, and paired jointed appendages. Arthropods form the Phylum Euarthropoda, which includes insects, arachnids, myriapods, and crustaceans. Arthropods are bilaterally symmetrical protostomes with strongly segmented bodies, have dorsal blood vessels and ventral nerve cords. The important characteristics of Arthropoda include possess an exoskeleton, have jointed appendages, the body is segmented, are bilaterally symmetrical and the possession of an open circulatory system. Arthropods have a genuine circulatory system. We can see that arthropods live on both lands and in water. They are also a source of food for many animals and human beings. Arthropods are traditionally divided into 5 subphyla: Trilobitomorpha (Trilobites), Chelicerata, Crustacea, Myriapods, and Hexapoda.
