As the very famous quote of Khalil Gibran “Your children are not your children. They are sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts, for they have their own thoughts.”, parenting is the process that prepares your child for independence. It promotes and supports the physical, emotional, social and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood. It basically refers to the intricacies of raising a child and doesn’t just refer to the biological relationship. We raise children, provide them protection and care to ensure healthy development into adulthood. Good parenting aims to develop in children, character traits like independence, self-direction, honesty, self-control, kindness and cooperation. There are different parenting styles; some are good for the holistic development of the child and some would have adverse effect on the child’s development.
