The first few lines of the Malayalam Mappila song from the album 'Sundari Mehaboobiya..' are 'Muthu muthu..' The song was sung by Thajoodeen Vadakara. Mappilappattu is a genre of music that originated and became popular among the Muslims of Kerala. The adjective mappila refers to the communal nature of this genre of music. Mappilappattu is a literary work in Arabic and Malayalam. There are many songs in Mappilappattu literature such as Malappattu, Padappattu, Pranayakavyam, Kathupattu, Oppanappattu, Kissapattu, Kessuppattu and Kalyanapattu.
