Do you know what acts as the batteries in the cell of a human body? It is mitochondria. Mitochondria is dubbed as the powerhouse of the cell. They produce ATP which is the energy currency of our body. In a way, mitochondria are responsible for the cellular respiration in our body. Our red blood cells do not contain mitochondria while all the other organelles do. When the cells require more energy, mitochondria divide rapidly and grows larger. On the contrary, when the cells require no energy mitochondria does. Mitochondria has DNA on its own. Mitochondria sound interesting right?. Look out for the next presentation.
