Methods and Techniques of Collecting Business Information

Presentations | English

To analyse and make decisions about a certain business, sales, etc., data will be collected. This collected data will help in making some conclusions about the performance of a particular business. Although data can be valuable, too much information is unwieldy, and the wrong data is useless. The top six data collection methods include interviews, questionnaires and surveys, observations, documents and records, focus groups and oral histories. Primary data is collected from the first-hand experience and is not used in the past. The data gathered by primary data collection methods are specific to the research’s motive and highly accurate. Primary data collection methods can be divided into two categories: quantitative methods and qualitative methods. Quantitative methods include time series analysis, smoothing techniques and barometric method. Qualitative methods include surveys, polls, interviews, Delphi technique, focus groups and questionnaire. Secondary data is the data that has been used in the past. The researcher can obtain data from the sources, both internal and external, to the organization.
