What is the role of metabolism in life? Why is water important in metabolism? All living organisms need energy to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments. Metabolism is the set of life-sustaining chemical processes that enables organisms transform the chemical energy stored in molecules into energy that can be used for cellular processes. The body has to expend energy to warm the fluid to body temperature, and the more energy expended by your body, the faster your metabolism runs. Why is a metabolism important? These processes include those that break down nutrients from our food, and those that build and repair our body. Building and repairing the body requires energy that ultimately comes from your food, right? Don’t you want to learn more about the importance of metabolism, shall we?
