Marriages in the Hindu culture are celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm. Horoscopes play an important part in marriages. The belief is that a marriage bond will not be strong if the horoscopes of the bride and the groom do not meet. Hence matching these horoscopes is the first step towards a marriage. Once this criteria is satisfied, the other ceremonies like meeting each other’s family, an engagement and deciding an auspicious day for the marriage, the Gauri Puja, and a plethora of other rituals and ceremonies are performed. This presentation is an attempt to explain in brief all these various ceremonies of a Hindu marriage in Telugu households.
హిందూ మతంలో పెళ్లి అనే కార్యక్రమాన్ని ఎంతో ఘనంగా చేస్తారు. హిందూ వివాహాల్లో తప్పకుండా వధూవరుల జాతకాలు కలిస్తేనే వారికి పెళ్లి నిశ్చయం చేస్తారు. జాతకాలు కలవకపోతే వారి వివాహ బంధం బలంగా ఉండదని వారి నమ్మకం. అయితే జాతకాలు కలిసాక పెళ్లి చూపులు, నిశ్చితార్ధం, గౌరీ పూజ, పసుపు దంచడం, గోరింటాకు కార్యక్రమం ఇలా చాలా తంతులు ఉంటాయి. వాటిలో కొన్నింటి గురించి తెలియజేసే ప్రయత్నం ఈ ప్రదర్శన.
