Lamentations is the book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament. This book is a compilation of five poems lamenting the destruction of the Babylonians during the first synagogue of the Jews (BC 587-86). There is a powerful tradition that theologian Jeremiah was the teacher at the time the church was demolished. The Hebrew origin of this work is 'Ikka'. The book starts up with that word. The word 'how' is a common beginning of lament in Hebrew. The authors of the Septuagint, the ancient Greek translation of the Jewish Bible called it ""Tranoy Hiremio"", to indicate its content. In the Hebrew Bible, it is found in the last stanza of the Scriptures (deadline). It is often included after the book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament. In addition to the Septuagint, this arrangement is also found in Jergho's Latin translation, Vulgate.
