Kathakali is a combination of dance, dance and dance through the medium of acting. Kathakali is a unique visual art form of Kerala. Kathakali was born by modifying the art form of Ramanattam. Kathakali is a harmonious combination of five elements: dance, dance, dance, song and instrument. It is an art form that has made Kerala famous all over the world. Kathakali costumes and facial expressions are another aesthetic experience. There are five types of roles that usually appear in Kathakali venues. Green, knife, beard, charcoal, and glitter. As artists become characters in their costumes, audiences also fall into the magical world of stories.
കഥകളി നാട്യം, നൃത്തം, നൃത്യമെന്നിവയെ ആംഗികമെന്ന അഭിനയോപാധിയിലൂടെ സമന്വയിപ്പിച്ചവതരിപ്പിക്കുകയാണു കഥകളി. കേരളത്തിന്റെ തനതായ ദൃശ്യകലാരൂപമാണു കഥകളി. രാമനാട്ടമെന്ന കലാരൂപം പരിഷ്കരിച്ചാണ്, കഥകളിയുണ്ടായത്. നൃത്തം, നാട്യം, നൃത്യം, ഗീതം, വാദ്യം എന്നിങ്ങനെ അഞ്ചു ഘടകങ്ങളുടെ സമഞ്ജസസമ്മേളനമാണു കഥകളി. ലോകമാകെ കേരളത്തെ പ്രശസ്തമാക്കിയ ഒരു കലാരൂപമാണ് ഇത്. കഥകളി വേഷ സമ്പ്രദായങ്ങളും മുഖത്തെഴുത്തും മറ്റൊരു സൗന്ദര്യാനുഭൂതിയാണ്. അഞ്ചു തരം വേഷങ്ങളാണ് സാധാരണ കഥകളി വേദികളില്‍ എത്തുക. പച്ച, കത്തി, താടി, കരി, മിനുക്ക് എന്നിവയാണവ. കലാകാരന്മാര്‍ അവരുടെ വേഷ ഭംഗിയില്‍ കഥാപാത്രമായി മാറുമ്പോള്‍ കാണികളും കഥകളുടെ മായിക ലോകത്തിലേക്കു വഴുതി വീഴുന്നു.
