The book “Ithanu Nammute Jeevitham” written by ‘Dileep Kaur Tivana’ was translated to the Malayalam language by ‘V. D. Krishnan Nambiyar’ and was published by the National Book Trust of India in 1993. Dileep Kaur Tivana is considered as the father of novels in Punjabi language. His characters are lively, and he draws life as such without any embellishments. In this novel he draws the lives of the farmers belonging to the Malwa region in Punjab. The advent of industrialization in the rural village is suffocating the farmers. Readers won’t be able to see much refined thought and language adorned with similes in his novels, rather they can accept true life as it is, without any cover. The author is adamant in portraying the struggles of the people living in rural areas. The novel is written by in layman’s perspective and it consists of rural language and dialect of the regions in Punjab such as Malwa and Podi. The struggles that a woman has to face compared to the matrilineal system that existed long ago is being narrated and is compared to the present as well.
‘ദിലീപ് കൗർ തീവാന’ രചിച്ച “ഇതാണു നമ്മുടെ ജീവിതം” എന്ന പുസ്തകം മലയാളത്തിലേക്ക് വിവർത്തനം ചെയ്തത് ‘വി. ഡി. കൃഷ്ണൻ നമ്പ്യാർ’, 1993-ൽ നാഷണൽ ബുക്ക് ട്രസ്റ്റ് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. പഞ്ചാബി ഭാഷയിലെ നോവലുകളുടെ പിതാവായാണ് ദിലീപ് കൗർ തിവാനയെ കണക്കാക്കുന്നത്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങൾ ചടുലമാണ്, അലങ്കാരങ്ങളൊന്നുമില്ലാതെ അദ്ദേഹം ജീവിതം വരയ്ക്കുന്നു. പഞ്ചാബിലെ മാൾവ മേഖലയിലെ കർഷകരുടെ ജീവിതമാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ഈ നോവലിൽ വരയ്ക്കുന്നത്. ഗ്രാമീണ ഗ്രാമത്തിൽ വ്യവസായവൽക്കരണത്തിന്റെ വരവ് കർഷകരെ ശ്വാസം മുട്ടിക്കുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ നോവലുകളിൽ കൂടുതൽ പരിഷ്കൃതമായ ചിന്തയും ഭാഷയും അനുകരണങ്ങളാൽ അലങ്കരിച്ച വായനക്കാർക്ക് കാണാൻ കഴിയില്ല, പകരം അവർക്ക് യഥാർത്ഥ ജീവിതത്തെ അതേപടി സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ കഴിയും. ഗ്രാമപ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ജനങ്ങളുടെ പോരാട്ടങ്ങൾ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിൽ ലേഖകൻ ഉറച്ചുനിൽക്കുന്നു. സാധാരണക്കാരുടെ വീക്ഷണകോണിൽ എഴുതിയ നോവൽ, പഞ്ചാബിലെ മാൾവ, പോഡി തുടങ്ങിയ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ ഗ്രാമീണ ഭാഷയും പ്രാദേശിക ഭാഷയും ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നു. പണ്ടേ നിലനിന്നിരുന്ന മാതൃസിദ്ധാന്തവുമായി താരതമ്യപ്പെടുത്തുമ്പോൾ ഒരു സ്ത്രീ അഭിമുഖീകരിക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്ന പോരാട്ടങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോഴത്തേതുമായി താരതമ്യം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
