Britain is a mixture of several cultures as several invasions took place there. Britain's population lived in tribes during the Iron Age. By 700 BC, the Celts had conquered most of central Europe, as well as the areas of Northern Spain. By 480 BC, the Celts had established themselves as a powerful force in Britain. Celtic tribes continued to move to Britain and establish dominance. During the Neolithic period, the people of Britain began farming some 5,000 years ago (New Stone Age). The Romans, with their well-organized troops, became the world's pre-eminent power. Julius Caesar made history by leading his Roman forces to capture Gaul and then attacking Britain in 55BC. The Romans did not settle in Britain until nearly a century later, when they launched another raid on the country. Download the PPT to know more.
