"The vast network that connects millions of computer networks around the world and the various facilities they provide are commonly referred to as the Internet or network. Internet Protocol, an information technology-based on packet switching, is used to implement the concept of the Internet. A network of networks that provides information technology services such as the World Wide Web, peer-to-peer network, chat, electronic mail, online gaming, and news services is commonly referred to as a net. Contrary to popular belief, the Network and the World Wide Web (WWW) are not synonymous. A network of computers refers to a collection of interconnected computers, while the World Wide Web refers to a collection of interconnected electronic documents using the medium of a network. The launch of the Russian communications satellite Sputnik in 1957 posed a challenge to the United States, and in 1969 the Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA), an advanced research project agency for their defence needs, formed the network ARPANET. Its purpose was military gains. The United States, an immigrant trading nation, began to use Arpanet for their commercial gain. Hence ARPANET in 1983; Divided into MILNET and ARPANET. Milnet is often referred to as the Military Network. Similarly, Arpanet has a DARPA type turn. DARPA sits for Defense Advanced Research Project Agency. Arpanet was renamed Darpanet on March 23, 1972, renamed Arpa on February 22, 1993, and renamed Durban on March 11, 1996. The commercialization of ARPANET was commercialized in the mid-nineties, becoming more widespread and effective in other countries. It then spread to other countries and invented more technologies. This led to a worldwide network and paved the way for the Internet."
